Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has appointed Echonews Best Principal of the Year awardee, Prince Adeyemi Kosoko, as a Permanent Secretary.

He is to head the Education District IV as the Tutor-General to succeed Mrs. Lola Are-Adegbite.

As tutor-general, he is to administer the post-primary schools in Yaba, Shomolu, Lagos Mainland and Surulere area in the provision of quality education, guidance, counselling, human resources management and maintenance of schools’ infrastructures.

Other duties include building the capacity of schools for e-learning, coordinating curricular activities and provision of life skills to students.

Kosoko, erstwhile Principal and School Director of Ikeja Senior Grammar, Bolade Oshodi, was adjudged the Best Principal of the Year by committee of community leaders set up by the Echonews Newspaper for the screening of the nominees for the awards.

The TG/PS appointment was seen as evidence of the credibility of the awards in terms of fairness and objectivity, said Echonews Editor, Abolaji Adebayo.

The recognition of his achievements in education sector by the Lagos State Government also earned him higher educational appointment in the state education sector.

For instance, it was reported that Kososko led Ikeja Senior Secondary to become the Best Schools in Eko Project, 2008; the School also emerged Best Schools in WAEC in 2015l2016 academic session under his leadership.

He was also instrumental to the development of the new curriculum being used by secondary schools across the state.

Speaking to Echonews on his achievements, the newly appointed TG/PS said his appointment was based on hard working and determination which he said would never be compromised for any other assignment.

He added that the grace of God has also seen him through the thin and thick of the journey that brought him to his present position.

He therefore encouraged his other colleagues to brace up to hard work which would always speak for them at any point in time of their life and career journey.

As part of his strategies to succeed, Kosoko said he planned to meet with the District IV executive members to draw vision plans to be achieved at the end of 2019 academic session which would involve the principals and teachers to strive, aiming at 70/80 percent all through in the students’ WAEC/NECO performances.

The Lagos State Education District VI Tutor General Permanent secretary (TG/PS) Olufunmiilayo Onadipe, described the newly appointed TG/PS as a leader with difference in his field of profession.

She noted that his hard work, discipline and zero tolerance for illegalities in service have earned him the appointment.

The appointee’s wife, Mrs. Folakemi Kosoko, who corroborated Onadipe concerning his husband disposition to work, sought God’s guidance and good health for her husband to carry out the tasks ahead which she believed he would deliver.

To his brother, Adeyinka Kosoko, the newly appointed TG/PS deserved the appointment considering his numerous achievements in service, his disciplined manners and uncompromised standard.

He stated that the virtues stood for him to be recognized even at the verge of his retirement in a loud ovation.
