The contractor handling the rehabilitation of Alimi Kashimawo road, Combination One Limited, has said that the road would not be ready for use until December, stating that the work is still in progress to ensure its timely delivery.

The council has embarked on the rehabilitation of the road to serve as an alternative route to ease the persistent traffic congestion on the Ejigbo road especially at NNPC junction.

Speaking with ECHONEWS, the Assistant Project Engineer in charge of the road construction, Engr. Joseph Adeyeye, explained that the road construction started more than a month ago and the projected plan is to finish it in three months which should be November, but due to the challenge posed by the incessant rain fall it might extend to December this year.

According to him, the construction is an inter-street road with interlocks to have drainage on both sides.

“The road will link up with the tarred road at Bungalow Estate which links Jakande Estate major road. It is to cut off traffic congestion on the major road. Users will access the road as alternative route to link to Jakande Estate to find other route to their destinations.”

Apart from the rain which has been delaying the work, Adeyeye said they were also faced with the challenge of limited space available for them to work on the street, complaining that they have to create space out of the narrowed street for the passersby and some motorists to pass.
