Nigeria defeated Cameroon with a fascinating performance to zoom into the quarter final of the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).

A brace from forward, Ademola Lookman condemned silenced the Indomitable Lions at the Stade de Felix, Abidjan.

Historically, the Felix stadium was the ground that Cameroon won the AFCON title 40 years ago but it wasn’t a good motivating factor for the present players to outshine the Super Eagles.

The Eagles had taken the lead early in the first half through Semi Ajayi before the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), ruled it our for offside.

Victor Osimhen bullied the Cameroon defender and placed a pass to Lookman to give Nigeria the lead in the first half.

The organized defense of the Eagles was a major force to deny the Indomitable Lions from getting across their goal area.

Lookman’s goal was the difference in the first half which settled both sides.

The second half saw a reinforced Super Eagles players with more energy as Osimhen tormented the Cameroonians defense to stupor.

Lookman grabbed his brace with a fantastic goal late in the game which was enough to seal the Super Eagles spot in the last eight of the AFCON.

Nigeria will play against Angola in the quarter final at the Stade de Felix, Abidjan.
