AFAN commends Ariyoh for supporting farmers

All Farmers Association (AFAN), Oshodi chapter has commended the Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area (LGA) for his activities on agriculture and support for the farmers at the grassroots.

The commendation came when the newly elected executive members of the association paid a courtesy visit to the local government chairman in his office recently.

The executive, led by its chairman, Alhaji Sikiru Adegbemi, particularly applauded Ariyoh for his initiative on extensive farming project to be embarked on by the local government.

The local government had declared that it would acquire some hectares of land to plant some crops for the benefit of the people of the local government area.

Speaking, Adegbemi, who appreciated the council boss for approving a space within the secretariat for fish farming and planting mushroom, promised to make good use of the opportunity given to the association as he reiterated that the association would strengthen its commitment and relationship with the government.

He noted that there are about 42 farming items that farmers could pick and operate on, which include cassava, plantain, groundnut, mushrooms, pigs, snail, fish/cattle rearing and others.

Also speaking, the association secretary, Dr. Elizabeth Olafunmilayo stated that the association would embark on training of the youths and women in farming sector to be independent and work towards the progress of the local government area.

Also on the delegation were the association’s Vice Chairman, Alhaja Folake Kasali and Treasurer, Alhaji Sikiru Lawal.
