Isolo LCDA wins 2019 Best Aquaculture Farmer Award

Based on its unwavering effort geared towards agricultural activities, Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has emerged the Best Aquaculture Farmer in Lagos State.

The feat was achieved on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Farmers Festival held at Police College Ground, Ikeja in commemoration of the annual World Food Day celebration.

Isolo beat 56 other councils in Lagos State with the exhibition of a record 13.8 kg cat fish and other processed agricultural products.

The Farmers Festival which was organised by the Lagos Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with Aller Aqua Nigeria Limited and held from 8th-16th October 2019 saw all the local councils in Lagos State exhibiting agricultural products in their various stands.

Speaking on the award, a visibly elated Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye showered praises on Isolo Farmers Association for bringing honour and glory to Isolo LCDA.
The local council has been supporting the farmers with grants to boost their farming as they hold meeting at the council secretariat every third Wednesday of the month co-ordinated by the Department of Agriculture.

It would also be recalled that the local government was the first to announce its plan to venture into commercial farming as it planned to acquire farming lands in Osun State for the purpose, the initiative other local governments have been emulating.

In a chat with ECHONEWS recently, Olaleye said the council has been working on the best strategies to execute the project, saying his administration has not stopped the project.
