2027: Egunjobi, Ninolowo Leave APC, Join APM for Agege Assembly Race

Two former All Progressives Congress, APC, aspirants for the Lagos State House of Assembly have moved to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, following changes to the party’s candidate list for Agege Constituencies I and II.

The affected politicians are former Agege Local Government Chairman Kola Egunjobi, who is seeking the Agege Constituency I seat, and Azeez Yusuf, popularly known as Ninolowo, who is contesting Agege Constituency II.

The duo have picked APM tickets to continue their bids for the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.

Their move followed disagreements over the emergence of candidates for the two Agege constituencies under the APC.

Egunjobi and Ninolowo had earlier been reported as winners of the APC primaries conducted in May.

However, subsequent changes to the party’s candidate list saw Oluwagbenga Abiola listed as the candidate for Agege Constituency I, while Enimakure Akindele Sakiru was named for Constituency II.

The development prompted Egunjobi to publicly challenge the outcome in June.

He alleged that the result announced for the Agege Constituency I primary did not correspond with the votes recorded at the various voting centres.

Egunjobi had maintained that he won the primary before the party recognised another candidate.

With their move to the APM, Egunjobi and Ninolowo will now pursue their respective bids for the Agege Constituency I and II seats under the party ahead of the 2027 election.
