The Grassroot Movement for Tinubu (GMT) 2027 has renewed its commitment to strengthening national unity and peaceful coexistence as Christian and Muslim leaders, political figures, and supporters converged in Lagos for an interfaith prayer gathering. The event, held in an atmosphere of solidarity and shared purpose, highlighted the group’s call for collective peace and progress across the country.

In his remarks, the Director General of GMT 2027, Lagos Chapter, Hon. Bisi Yusuf, emphasized that Nigeria remains united despite attempts to stoke division. He described claims of genocide in the country as unfounded, noting that Muslims and Christians continue to live, work, associate, and celebrate side by side. Yusuf added that the Movement will continue to champion harmony across ethnic and religious boundaries while rejecting banditry and all forms of disunity.

The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of prayer in addressing insecurity. He echoed the message of togetherness, stating that Nigerians remain one family irrespective of religious differences. Ayinde expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing security efforts, commending the recent appointment of a new Minister of Defence whose strong security background, he said, will complement the service chiefs and yield visible improvements across the country.

Prominent religious leader Cardinal James Omolaja Odumbaku described the interfaith meeting as a powerful symbol of Nigeria’s unshakeable unity. He recalled that this was the second such gathering, following an earlier session in Ibeju-Lekki, and said nothing would divide the country as long as Christians and Muslims continue to stand together. Odumbaku expressed optimism in President Tinubu’s leadership, affirming that the President remains committed to the welfare of the nation.

Lagos State House of Assembly member for Epe Constituency II, Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester, reaffirmed the commitment of Lagos leaders who continue to work closely with President Tinubu to address security challenges. He noted that ongoing collaboration between state and federal authorities is paving the way for meaningful national progress.

Director General of the Ogun State chapter of GMT, Rt. Hon. Tola Banjo, praised the Lagos chapter for its dedication and echoed the call for sustained peace and cooperation. He restated that Nigeria is not experiencing genocide and pointed to the nation’s long-standing culture of religious tolerance as evidence.

The interfaith session ended with fervent prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for Nigeria, and for Lagos State. Participants asked for peace, stability, progress, and divine protection over the country. The Grassroot Movement for Tinubu 2027 closed the gathering with a renewed pledge to continue promoting initiatives that strengthen unity and foster lasting national harmony.
