Former Big Brother Naija star and entrepreneur Anita Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has stirred fresh conversations online after sharing her candid views on love, dating, and life abroad.
Speaking on The Podcast Network on YouTube, Tacha urged young women to take charge of their love lives instead of rushing into commitments.
“You need three other boyfriends in your life… I’m not saying to sleep with all the boyfriends. But at least… You just never really know,” she said.
She emphasized that women should not feel pressured to settle down too quickly.
“Every girl should be single until they are actually married… Don’t let your boyfriend stop you from meeting your husband.”
Tacha pointed out that society holds men and women to different standards, which makes it important for women to be more strategic in navigating relationships.
“The kind of grace that the guys have is not the same kind of grace that we have. So we need to be able to move differently,” she explained.
The reality TV star also spoke about her experiences living abroad compared to Nigeria. She admitted that although life in Nigeria can be difficult, living overseas often comes with even greater challenges.
“As much as it’s hard here in Nigeria, it’s also hard. It’s even harder abroad, honestly,” she said, adding that many Nigerians abroad avoid coming back home because of fear of being judged as failures.
“A lot of people abroad do not want to come back because people will say I went abroad and I couldn’t make it, then I came back.”
She described the loneliness and financial pressures that many Nigerians abroad endure despite the glamorous image they portray online.
“People go through great pressure to give an impression that really does not exist… Two of my luggage items got stolen in Paris… It’s not this hard back here in Nigeria.”
According to her, the sense of community in Nigeria is invaluable.
“You can go to your junction and say, ‘Mama Ki, give me something of 7,000. By the end of the month, I’ll pay you.’ I feel like there’s a lot more to be happy and bright about here in Nigeria than in the UK.”
Tacha also encouraged Nigerians to use their boldness and outspoken nature to drive positive change and reshape how the world perceives the country.
“With how loud and how rugged they are, we should actually use that ruggedness to get what we want in the country. We can try to change it… It took a long time for us to get here, so it will take a long time to change the notion the world has about Nigeria.”
