Ayobo Ipaja Local Council Development Area has emerged as the best LCDA in Lagos.
This was announced at the 2024 Community Day organised by Lagos State Government on Thursday, November 1st 2024 at the Police College Parade Ground in Ikeja.
The event which also has Hilltop Community Association in Eredo LCDA as the 3rd runner Up, Alapako Community in Olorunda LCDA and Harmony Estate in Ifako-Ijaiye LG emerging as the 1st runner up with consolation prices of cash gifts given to various LG and LCDAs .
Echonews reports that the Lagos State’s Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development hosted the annual Community Day celebration which brought together Community Development Associations (CDAs) from various parts of the state to showcase their accomplishments over the past year.
The Community Day celebration serves as a platform for CDC/CDA members to come together, celebrate their successes, and foster a sense of unity among the communities in Lagos State.
With the theme ‘Stronger Together: Building a Resilient Community,’ the 2024 Lagos State Community Day celebration emphasized unity and collective strength in the presence of special guest of honor, Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu represented by the Deputy Governor. Dr. Hamzat Obafemi.
The Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat underscored the importance of fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among communities, regardless of background, class, religion, or ethnicity.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to innovative programs aimed at improving the quality of life for all Lagosians. Urging residents to support the state’s shared vision, Hamzat encouraged vigilance in protecting investments and cultural heritage and avoiding actions that could lead to tension or escalation.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to listening to the needs and aspirations of the people of Lagos State. In recognition of the vital role played by Community Development Associations (CDAs), Hamzat expressed gratitude for their leadership and contributions to their respective communities. He emphasized the significance of collaboration and partnership between the government and local communities in advancing the state’s development goals.
Alhaji Azeez Hamzat, Chairman of the Community Development Advisory Council, highlighted the essential role CDAs play in fostering collaboration between the government and local communities.
He underscored the numerous projects undertaken by the state government and the commitment to preserving these initiatives.
He said Lagos State has over 5,000 Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the state and their contributions to grassroots development.
Calling for greater recognition of CDAs’ efforts and increased support from the government, Hamzat urged the administration to fulfill outstanding promises. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration and support in advancing community-led development and building resilience across Lagos State.
