The Eagles had taken the lead early in the first half through Semi Ajayi before the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), ruled it our for offside.

Victor Osimhen bullied the Cameroon defender and placed a pass to Lookman to give Nigeria the lead in the first half.

The organized defense of the Eagles was a major force to deny the Indomitable Lions from getting across their goal area.
