In support of state senatorial ambition of the former Minister of State for Defence from Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, some youths of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ejigbo have commenced grassroots mobilization to facilitate the actualization of the goal.
The concerned youths have also set up youths movement in the community to embark on campaign towards the political ambition.
The campaign movement, which has seven officers and tagged ‘The Patriots’ was formed to serve as an eye opener in Ejigbo and its environs, while it was strategizing on how to penetrate and galvanise more support for Obanikoro’s ambition within the community.
It was also orchestrated to serve as mobilisation political structure through which the political party as a whole would have a massive win at state and federal levels.
It was noticed that those who constituted the campaign movement were loyalists of the current Senator representing Lagos West at the Federal Senate, who is also currently jostling for the number one seat in Ogun State, Sen. Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi).
The seven officers of the Movement were saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the sensitisation of the grassroots about the Senatorial ambition of Sen. Obanikoro in 2019.
According to the Coordinator of the Movement, Ade Adegbite, the campaign movement was to preach the gospel and sell their principal to voters in the LCDA.
He stressed that it was the duty of every officer of the movement to ensure Obanikoro as a brand be bought over by the voters.
He stated l, “It is our responsibility to preach the gospel of our candidate to voters in this local government. Sen. Obanikoro had instructed me to constitute this campaign movement so as to galvanise support for his senatorial ambition.
“Obanikoro is a brand we must sell to voters in Ejigbo LCDA and he himself takes Ejigbo people very important in this senatorial district so we must not fail him in this struggle.”
In addition, the Deputy Coordinator, Sanya Adeosun expressed confidence in their principal in clinching the party’s ticket, saying that the movement would shoulder the responsibility of lobbying members of other caucuses in the party to their fold.
“I can assure you that Sen. Obanikoro would clinch the party’s ticket. It is our responsibility to persuade our friends in other camp to join us in this struggle,” Adeosun said.
Similar scenario took place in Oshodi Local Government Area as some loyalists of Obanikoro who defected with him from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to APC also constituted Obanikoro Campaign Group (OCG).
The Coordinator of the Group in Oshodi, Suraju Oladeinde, stated that the people of Oshodi were firmly in support of Obanikoro, stressing that he was a tested and trusted politicians.
Oladeinde added that Lagos West Senatorial District cannot be left in the hands of people who would not be able to manage the political influence of the District in the political system of Lagos.
He affirmed that the senator was a tested and trusted politician who has been known for long and who could manage the political influence of the District in the scheme of things in Lagos and at the federal level.
Meanwhile, Echonews learned that Obanikoro would be meeting with all Council Chairmen and Councillors in Lagos West over his ambition by March ending.
It was also disclosed that Obanikoro would as well be reaching out to all state lawmakers who are from the district to strategize on how they could use their political clouts to intensify his campaign in their various constituencies.
