The Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Community Development Committee (CDC) has received a significant donation of over a thousand bags of rice from the Aliko Dangote Foundation, as part of a broader initiative to distribute one million 10kg bags of rice across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Representing the Dangote Group and the Foundation, Executive Director Hajia Marya Dangote emphasized the organization’s commitment to compassion and humanitarian efforts through this nationwide food intervention program.
Echonews reports that the donation to Ifako-Ijaiye is just one example of the positive impact the initiative aims to achieve by providing relief to communities in need across the country.
Following the supply, the CDC leadership invited representatives of various community stakeholders and organizations to collect their allocated shares. The beneficiaries included: Community Development Associations (CDAs), Muslim Community, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State Council of Tradesmen & Artisans (LASCOTA), People with Disabilities (PWDs), Market Men & Women, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), All Progressives Congress (APC), among others.
The representatives who received the palliatives expressed their appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation for their generosity. They also commended the CDC for ensuring fair and even distribution.
Meanwhile, the Iyaloja-General of Ifako-Ijaiye, Chief Mrs. Doyin Coker-Ogunbiyi, applauded the government’s efforts in extending this kind gesture to Lagosians, especially at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with economic hardship and food insecurity.
The Coordinator of NYCN Ifako-Ijaiye Local Branch also extended heartfelt gratitude and encouraged the government and other non-governmental organizations to emulate the Dangote Foundation’s commitment to supporting the poor and needy. By doing so, many Nigerians who struggle to afford daily meals will have food on their tables.
With this large-scale distribution effort, the Aliko Dangote Foundation continues to demonstrate its dedication to fighting hunger and improving nutrition across Nigeria.
