– Xenophobia: Shammeh visits looted shops in Isolo, decries youths’ action

By Damilola Kushimo

The Executive Chairman of Isolo Local council development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye (Shammeh), has condemned the youths’ reaction over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, saying attacking and looting shops in Nigeria as act of reciprocity was not the normal way to react.

The council boss said this during his unscheduled visit to South African business outlets located within the council area which were attacked and looted by the angry youths recently.

PEP Shop located on Isolo Way, Ajao Estate and Shoprite Warehouse at Toyota Bus stop along Oshodi/Apapa Expressway were among the shops attacked and damaged by the youths.

Olaleye who was accompanied by the Council Manager, Samsondeen Odeleye and other executive members commended the security operatives of the council area for quickly rising to the occasion to forestall wanton looting of the facilities by irate Nigerian youths who launched attacks on South African-owned businesses as a reprisal for the xenophobic attack on Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

He however cautioned Nigerians to be patient and allow the federal government to settle the matter.
