Why the LAG ID card is good for you- Alake

Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation & Technology, Mr. Tubosun Alake has urged Lagosians to get the re-launched identity card as soon possible to access the services of the administration and achieve their personal goals.
Delivering his address at the re-launch of the Lagos State residents card, LAG ID, Alake said identity management is necessary for Lagos State as a sub-national because its peculiar and unique needs differ from those of the federation and other states.
He said the state’s vision of a smart city would ride on the robust infrastructure that the identity management system provides adding that this would catalyse the economy to serve the citizens.
His words: “ It is the beginning of catalyzing the Lagos economy through a new paradigm called LAG ID… The LASRRA ID Card scheme is a critical component of the smart city implementation. The increasing socio-economic needs of the populace juxtaposed with the economic potential that exists in Lagos requires a robust identification system as its foundational layer.”
Promising that the cards would be integrated with other identity schemes such as the Bank Verification Number, BVN of the banks and the National Identification Number, NIN of the National Identity Management Commission, Alake said the additional advantage of the new card is that it provides financial inclusion for the holders.
“These are some of the strategic partnerships that LASRRA will be doing” he said.
Explaining that the LAG ID card system has in-built processes to detect and eliminate duplication and ensure reliable data, Alake noted that these features also improve the storage of data and the ability of the system to scale up.
He said the system has 24 hour cloud access enabling transactions to take place throughout the day and is well protected to facilitate background checks.
