Wafu-B U17 Cup: Flamingos Trounce Ghana In Jollof Derby

Nigeria U17 women’s national team hit a milestone achievement by trouncing Ghana 4-2 in their second game at the Wafu-B U17 Women’s Cup in Yammouskro, Ivory Coast.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Harmony Chidi, Mary Dunstan and Kaosarat Akanji were pivotal to the Flamingos six goal thriller win against the Ghanaians.

Adegbuyi fantastic strike in the 33rd minute gave the Flamingos a deserved lead in the Jollof Derby.

Skipper, Harmony doubled Nigeria’s lead on the stroke of halftime with a trademark finish.

Nigeria defender, Elizabeth Adesuyi was sent off in the 59th minute as she hacked down Ghana forward who was through on goal.

The Black Maidens pulled a goal back with a fantastic free kick in the 62nd minute.

Despite been at the numerical disadvantage with a player out, the Flamingos restored their two goal lead as Dustan races through on goal and rounded up the goalkeeper in the 70th minute.

Defender, Akanji scored an absolute screamer free kick from the halfway line in the 87th minute.

Ghana however found a way to get their second goal of the game in the 90th minute which wasn’t enough to escape them from a 4-2 defeat.

Nigeria have now scored nine goals at the 2026 Wafu-B U17 Cup and conceded two goals in four games.
