Wafu-B U17 Cup: Flamingos Knocks Burkina Faso, Soars To Top Table

Nigeria U17 women’s national team kept their momentum and winning mentality in shape as they thrashed Burkina Faso 2-0 on Monday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

Mary Dunstan and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored two late goals to maintain the Flamingos perfect run in the competition.

Nigeria were given a run for their money as Burkina Faso remained steadfast and disciplined in goal against a rampaging attack from the Nigerians.

Both sides were on their toes in the first half which didn’t record any goal despite the Flamingos dominating possession and finding it hard to break the resilience Burkina Faso defense.

A return from the break showed a renewed vigor from Nigeria as they tormented Burkina Faso defense while staying relentless and searching for the breakthrough goal.

The Flamingos moment of relief came in the 82nd minute, with midfielder, Dustan scoring a fantastic goal from the edge of the box.

The goal brought Burkina Faso from their defensive approach to threaten Nigeria defense with their attacking clique.

Adegbuyi rounded up the goalkeeper to double Flamingos win and solidified their dominance in the competition.

The win gives Nigeria three victories in three matches to cement their status on the top of the log.

Harmony Chidi, Dunstan and Adegbuyi are tied on two goals each.

Flamingos have scored 11 goals in three games with only two goals conceded.
