Youths in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government have been urged to participate in the still-to-come general election as their voice was described as an important one on both sides of the aisle.
The council chairman, Hon. Valentine Buraimoh made the call while describing them as a powerful political force that needs to utilize their opportunity wisely as their vote has the potential to be extremely influential in deciding a political office in a country.
He said most times in Nigeria, the outcome of an election is always a ‘missed opportunity’ on the part of the millennial to effect a change in the country while tasking all youth groups in the council to make a new narration on voters’ apathy that has become a norm in the community.
He cited as example the case of former President Barack Obama’s of America election in 2008 as his popularity with the youth voters was one of the key elements of his campaign, giving him a large margin over competitors in several strategic states as the vote of every youth that participated in the election made Obama’s score surpass his competitors.
He, therefore, listed flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress as the right choice to vote for saying they will make a refined Nigeria if elected.
