The leadership of the Okada operators in Ejigbo has been charged to come up with numbered jackets for all the motorcycle operators to serve as means of identification.
The Director, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Wole Ashaolu, who spoke to ECHONEWS said with the jacket, it would be easy to track any operator who misbehaves.
He added that the initiative would also help the Lagos State Government’s plan to have data base of all the commercial drivers in the state including the tricycle and Okada operators.
According to him, all the commercial vehicles in the state would be registered as the government was trying to create a data base to know each vehicle, the drivers and the conductors.
This, he said, was a means of having a secured transport system for the citizens and to monitor some dubious activities being carried out with commercial vehicles, Marwa and Okada in the state.
Ashaolu emphasized that the identification of the commercial transport operators would serve as security within the community.
He said the restoration of sanity on the roads should be the concern of every citizen as he promised that the government would put up measures to ease traffic in the major areas
