Speaking with ECHONEWS, the organizer of the competition, Folashade Ekun stated that the reason of the competition is to put the four teams in excellent form as they will be participating in the NWFL second and third tier leagues.

“We came up with this innovative idea in order to put the participating clubs in great shape as they participate in the NWFL 2nd and 3rd tier in order to gain promotion to the elite NWFL Premiership.

“The tournament is also an avenue to promote women football because, so many people focus on the men and leaving the women behind, so our aim is to put women football on the spotlight.

“The competition will also serve as a competitive atmosphere for the players as they will be able to horn their skills and showcase their hidden talents to the World.”
