SSA Adeboye, Polish Ambassador Celebrate Unity As Nigeria And Poland Share Spoils In Abuja Watch Party

In a memorable display of sports diplomacy, top government officials, diplomats, sports administrators, and football legends converged at the VIP Lounge of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, for a historic Nigeria–Poland International Friendly Watch Party.
The event, jointly hosted by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development and the Polish Embassy in Nigeria, blended thrilling football action with cultural exchange and high-level networking.
The match itself was a highly entertaining contest that ended in a 2-2 draw. Nigeria took the lead through Terem Moffi, brilliantly assisted by Moses Simon. Poland equalized through Kacper Potulski, set up by Nicola Zalewski. Paul Onuachu restored Nigeria’s lead from the penalty spot, but Poland fought back with a powerful strike from Wisniewski late in the game to ensure both sides shared the spoils.
The atmosphere inside the VIP Lounge was electric, reflecting the growing warmth in Nigeria-Poland relations. Guests described the evening as one of the most symbolic sports diplomacy events in Abuja this year, highlighting how football can transcend borders and foster genuine friendship.

Speaking after the match, **Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye**, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, expressed satisfaction with the success of the event.
“Tonight was beyond football,” Adeboye said. “It was about friendship, unity, diplomacy, networking, and strengthening relationships through sports. We are happy with the turnout and the incredible positive energy we witnessed.”
He added that the initiative aligns perfectly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in youth empowerment, international cooperation, and grassroots sports development.
