Small Business owners tasked on digital economy
To ensure grass root businesses thrive online, Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) at Oshodi-Isolo Lagos have been tasked to get involved in the digital economy across Nigeria and the world. Speaking at the #Oshodibusinessconnect launch of a mobile app in Lagos, the Director of Community Life Project (CLP), Ngozi Iwere, who doubles as the coordinator of Reclaim Naija said, “The Oshodi Business Connect App is aim to connect informal traders and local governments using technology to break barriers on taxations especially for people at the local level.
“Also, lot of grassroots citizens are excluded from the digital economy. So, we want to bridge that gap of their exclusion because there is so much to benefit from having their business Online. When you hear young Nigerians earning millions, it is just this kind of privileged and advantage that got them there.”
Iwere however lamented that many grassroots businesses that were offline for one reason or the other could not avail themselves the opportunities that internet technology and communication has provided in this digital age.
“So, business connect of Reclaim Naija is set to bridge that gap. The aim is to get a lot of micro businesses in Oshodi online for people to be able to reach them and they can also avail themselves of resources that are online.” She said.
