Security Guards Remanded For Stealing Aluminum Materials Worth N61m

Three security guards have been remanded in prison for allegely stealing aluminum fencing materials worth N61,000,000.

The trio were arrested by police operatives at Maroko Division and arraigned for trial at Ebute-Meta Magistates’ Court on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

At the court, Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Ejima Okete, stated that the suspects : Bullum Ayim (38), Gabriel Edet (31), and Samuel Nkanu (33) were hired by their employer to guard the stolen items at No 6, Olunda Adedoyin Ogungbe Street, Lekki, where the incident happened.

Okete mentioned that the theft act took place between 1st and 28th August 2024.

The prosecutor also stated that the suspects fabricated a story claiming that thieves broke into the premises to steal the items, a claim he described as false.

The charges against them are in accordance with sections 287 and 410 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Bayo Sonuga granted them bail with two sureties each in like sum but remanded them at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre untill they meet up their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 8th October.
