Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has celebrated Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, the Baba Adini of Yorubaland and Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) of the Lagos APC, on his 90th birthday, describing him as a trusted adviser and political mentor.

In his congratulatory message, Sanwo-Olu praised Olusi, who is also the Atobatele of Ekiti, for his loyalty, integrity, wisdom, patience and commitment to peacemaking.

The governor said Olusi’s fatherly counsel had helped him navigate political challenges and carry out his responsibilities as governor.

“Baba has taken me like a son – in fact, I am his political son! He has handheld me, advising me on several occasions on matters of politics and governance. He has done all these with reverence for the office that I occupy. Baba is a rare human being,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He described the nonagenarian as a repository of political and historical knowledge, particularly regarding the development of Lagos and Nigeria’s former Western Region.

According to the governor, Olusi has a remarkable ability to recall events and decisions dating back to the era of Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Action Group and trace their significance through subsequent political developments.

“At 90, Baba remains a repository of wisdom and knowledge, especially on the political and historical development of Lagos and the Western Region of Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor also praised Olusi’s commitment to party discipline, saying the GAC chairman consistently emphasised the importance of respecting decisions taken by political parties.

“As a committed politician, Baba Olusi believes that the party is supreme. He always says that no political group or association can stand the test of time if the party’s decisions are not obeyed by members,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu said Olusi’s experience and guidance had remained valuable to political leadership in Lagos, particularly as the state navigates its governance and party affairs.

Praying for the celebrant, the governor wished him continued good health and a fulfilling life as he marked the milestone birthday.

“As Baba, Prince Olusi, celebrates his 90th birthday, my prayer on behalf of my family and the good people of Lagos State is for him to enjoy good health for the rest of his life. I wish Prince Oluyole Olusi a happy birthday,” he said.
