Nigeria forward, Folashade Ijamilusi says the national women’s football team will aim for a more convincing victory in the second leg of their 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifier against Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The Super Falcons secured a first-leg victory over Comoros and will look to strengthen their position in the return fixture as they continue their quest to qualify for the women’s football event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Speaking to ECHONEWS exclusively, Ijamilusi expressed gratitude for the opening-leg victory but expects an improved performance with more goals in the return leg of the encounter.
“First of all, we’re grateful to God for the victory over Comoros. For the second leg, we’re expecting to do better than we did, to score more goals, because we really, really need to,” Ijamilusi said.
The forward also expressed confidence in the quality and depth of the Super Falcons squad, insisting that Nigeria have the players capable of securing qualification for the Olympic Games.
According to her, the team’s experience and the availability of quality players will be crucial to achieving their objective.
“By the grace of God, the Super Falcons, we have what it takes. We have good players. We’ve been in and out a lot of good players that can secure that spot. We will, by the grace of God.”
Nigeria, who are seeking a return to the women’s football competition at the Olympics, will be determined to build on their first-leg success and take another step towards securing a place at the Los Angeles Games.
The Super Falcons last featured in the women’s football event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and are eager to end their long absence from the competition.
