Police, council beef up security as cult groups clash, terrorize community

The authority of Isolo LCDA and the police have started beefing up security in the council area to avoid a spill over of the clash of two rival cult groups which clashed in Isolo over supremacy recently.
A total number of 11 suspects have so far been arrested by the police in connection with conflict which took place at Akinbaiye area of Isolo on Tuesday January 21, this year.
The rival cult groups (Aiye and One Minute Boys) were said to have engaged each other in a brutal fight which left many injured as well as cars and properties destroyed on the street of Akinbaiye in Isolo LCDA.
While speaking on the ugly development, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Kolawole Olojede said normalcy has since returned to the area with the arrest of 11 suspects.
He informed that with investigation still on-going, many more suspects are likely to be apprehended.
During the brutal clash, a policeman was reported to be severely injured and has since been admitted at the Military Hospital, Yaba.
The Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye in company of the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka inspected the affected area to determine the extent of damages recorded.
The council boss while condemning the ugly incident, called for proper investigation of the matter with a view to forestalling a re-occurrence.
He said the council authority will collaborate with the police to beef up security in the community.
Through investigation, ECHONEWS gathered that trouble began last Monday when one of the leaders of one group was released from prison.
His goons reportedly decided to throw a bash to celebrate his return.
They invited many of their friends and associates from within and outside Isolo but the festivities did not last long as members of a rival group )reportedly waylaid the merry party and injured many in the process.
The original group then staged a reprisal attack which left dozens injured.
