Police Arraign Two Female Suspects Over Child Trafficking

The police have arraigned two female suspects in court over allegations of contravening provisions of the Lagos State Criminal Law by aiding child trafficking and modern day slavery.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the accused duo identified as Loveth Christian, 25, and one Damilola Basiru,17, are facing a two-count charge bordering on trafficking and exploitation of minors.

At the Magistrate court sitting in Badagry, Adeosun stated that the defendants, on April 26 at Ajara Agamathen area, in Badagry, unlawfully trafficked two teenagers of ages 15 and18 en route Ghana to be sold for slavery.

The policeman also said that the alleged offence is a violation to Sections 276 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Before adjourning the case till June 30, the Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, who did not accept the pleas by the litigants, ordered their remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending a review by the state’s Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.
