Pay your levies, dues promptly to get infrastructures, Shammeh tells Aswani Traders Union

The Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye (Shammeh) has told the traders at Answani Market to pay their levies and dues as and when due for the government to provide the needed infrastructures in the market.

Shammeh said this while the new executive committee members of Aswani Daily Traders Union paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the council secretariat last week following their successful election.

According to the council chairman, the levies and dues from the market are part of the internally generated revenue (IGR) for the local government backed up by law which is used to execute developmental projects in the community.

“If you pay your levies and dues promptly, that would put you in good stead to demand better infrastructure in the market,” he stated.

The council boss told the new executive members of the market union who were led by the former chairman of the union, Onyebuchi Adendu that the success of their administration would be determined by how vibrant they are in paying their levies and dues to the council.

“Prompt payment of levies and dues to the council is one of the parameters to be used to know how success or otherwise of your administration.

He also enjoined them to work assiduously for the unity and progress of the market, saying: “You have a challenge of sustaining peace and unity of the market at all times.”

While welcoming the new executive members, the council chairman congratulated them for their emergence as leaders of the market.

Responding, the former union chairman said he was elated to bring the new executive members before the council chairman, adding that the election that brought them in was successful.

The new executive members include Frank Nwachukwu (Chairman), Adebayo Akinloye (Vice Chairman), Mike Ofoegbulem (Secretary), Mike Onwumere (Assistant Secretary), Robinson Onuoha (Treasurer) and Akaforoye Chidara (Task force Chairman).

Others include Chimeze Uzorara (Asst Taskforce Chairman), Tajudeen Jimoh (Provost), Kingsley Njoku (Asst Provost), Chukwumah Umeh (PRO) and Chidiebere Okeke (Asst PRO).
