Oshinowo’s “WeLift Trader Support” Empowers Traders

Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, led by Mr. Dele Oshinowo, introduced the WeLift 450 Trader Support Scheme in partnership with Sterling Bank.

 

This scheme aimed to provide traders with a financial boost of #50,000 to aid their businesses. Oshinowo stressed the significance of saving, noting that even small amounts could have a significant impact.

He mentioned that some traders have a market value of less than #20,000 but are still saving, and he encouraged them by illustrating how saving #500 daily could accumulate to about #15,000 in a month.

 

Oshinowo shared his personal connection to traders, citing his mother’s trading background as an example of how support can pave the way for success.

The program, to be conducted monthly, targets empowering widows and traders across various markets and street locations.

 

Collaboration with the Community Development Committee (CDC) or Community Development Association (CDA) is essential for this inclusive approach.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, praised the local government chairman for his dedication to empowering women, especially market traders, through financial assistance to improve their businesses.

 

He urged others to follow this commendable gesture, stressing the importance of helping those in need.

 

Additionally, the Speaker highlighted the timeliness of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and called for ongoing support for him to revamp the economy for the betterment of the people.

Otunba Yetunde Arobieke, the Former Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, lauded the initiative as commendable and a role the government should actively play.

 

She underlined the value of this program, especially for women with small businesses lacking sufficient capital.

Many of these women have minimal goods worth less than #50,000, making this initiative crucial in boosting their businesses and enabling them to expand their operations.

 

Moreover, Mr. Femi Saheed, Member of the Lagos House of Assembly, Kosofe 2, praised Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his efforts in supporting traders during this challenging time.

 

He stressed the importance of aiding traders, acknowledging their hardships and their substantial contribution to the local economy.
