No Single Good Road in Shasha – Alimosho Residents Raise Fresh Demands

Residents of Alimosho Local Government Area have taken to Facebook to demand more from the government, with calls for improved roads, better waste management and job opportunities despite the continuation of the council’s Ounje Alimosho 2.0 food discount initiative.
Ajibade Adepeju Olakunle, reacting to the initiative, urged the government to address the huge piles of refuse along roads in Alimosho, saying, “Please do something to the huge refuse on Alimosho roads.”
Similarly, Olayiwola Balogun called for urgent attention to the state of roads in Shasha, saying, “What we need is good road sir, no single good road in Shasha.”
Another resident, Lateef Adebayo, simply identified job opportunities as one of the pressing needs of residents.
The reactions came as the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, sustained the Ounje Alimosho 2.0 initiative, offering residents food items at a 50 per cent discount as part of activities marking his first year in office.
The programme is aimed at cushioning the impact of rising food prices and the cost of living by making essential food commodities more affordable to residents.
While the initiative has been presented as a grassroots intervention to ease economic pressure on households, the reactions from residents highlight other pressing concerns they want the government to address, particularly infrastructure, environmental sanitation and employment.
The continuation of Ounje Alimosho forms part of the Akinpelu administration’s broader welfare programmes, with the council maintaining that it will continue to implement interventions aimed at improving the wellbeing of residents.
