2027: Yayi Reveals Plan To Appoint Late Ogogo As Special Adviser

The family of late veteran actor, Adedeji Akinyemi, popularly known as Ogogo, has received an emotional revelation from the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
Yayi, who is also the senator representing Ogun West, disclosed that he had planned to appoint Ogogo as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if he wins the 2027 governorship election.
The senator made the disclosure on Tuesday during a visit to Ogogo’s family at their country home in Ilaro.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral on social media, Yayi said his plan went beyond making the late actor a special adviser, as he intended to make him a full member of the Ogun State cabinet.
“I planned to make Ogogo my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism. Not just as SA but as a full cabinet member if I won the election and became the governor of Ogun State.
“That was my plan. I kept it to myself and I was working with it, believing that God would do it,” he said.
Yayi’s revelation comes barely weeks after the death of the veteran actor, who passed away at the age of 66 on August 23, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
The senator was also among those who supported Ogogo financially during his illness, reportedly helping to cover his medical expenses during his battle with stage 4 cancer.
Ogogo was widely recognised for his contributions to the Yoruba film industry and his long standing influence in Nigerian entertainment.
