LAGOS — Echonews Newspapers Limited is set to unveil the first-ever biography of the late Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as “Toba Ijaya,” as part of activities marking his 40th-day prayer.
Titled The Streets and the Crown: The Life, Rise, and Legacy of Toba Ajiboye (“Toba Ijaya”), the eight-chapter biography chronicles the life, struggles, rise and legacy of the late Ajiboye, whose story resonated with people within and beyond his community.
Published by Echonews Newspapers Limited, the book provides an account of the different stages of Ajiboye’s life, highlighting his experiences, relationships, challenges, achievements and the circumstances that shaped his journey.
The unveiling will provide family members, friends, associates and well-wishers an opportunity to remember Toba Ijaya, celebrate his life and reflect on the impact he made during his lifetime.
According to the publisher of Echonews, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, the biography was conceived as an effort to preserve Ajiboye’s story for posterity and provide a permanent record of the man behind the popular name, Toba Ijaya.
Bamigbetan said the biography goes beyond a memorial tribute, presenting a human story of the streets, ambition, survival, rise and legacy of a man whose life left an impression on those around him.
The book is expected to serve as a historical record for Ajiboye’s family, friends, associates and future generations who may wish to understand his life and times.
With the unveiling, Echonews Newspapers Limited is adding another dimension to the commemoration of Toba Ijaya by documenting and preserving his life story in book form.
The 40th-day prayer will therefore also serve as the formal presentation of The Streets and the Crown, the first-ever biography dedicated to Toba Ajiboye.
