The Lagos State Government has dismissed claims that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been asked to step down over health concerns, describing the report as entirely false.

In a statement issued on Monday, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, said the story circulating online lacked credibility and should be disregarded.

According to him, the governor remains in good health and continues to perform his official duties without any hindrance. He stressed that no individual or authority had requested Sanwo-Olu’s resignation.

The government also clarified details surrounding a recent meeting between the governor and his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. It explained that the visit was a routine and cordial engagement during which the deputy governor formally informed Sanwo-Olu of his intention to contest the governorship in the future.

Akosile urged residents to ignore the report, describing it as another instance of misinformation aimed at misleading the public. He reaffirmed that the governor remains fully in charge and actively engaged in the administration of the state.

The state government reiterated its call for responsible information sharing, warning against the spread of unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic or confusion.
