The new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Aswani Police Division, SP Adeleke Ojajuni, has pledged to work with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to sustain peace  and  make the community crime-free.

Ojajuni said this while addressing members of the committee last Thursday.

He appreciated the committee for the massive support he has received since he remwd at the division and for giving the division a ‘glamorous’ facelift.

Ojajuni was posted to the division on Friday, February 26, 2021, to replace CSP Oyin Frances who was transferred to state CID, Panti as the Officer-In-Charge of Division 7 (Human Right) having spent 18 months in the division.

Ojajuni is the ninth DPO of the division since 2007.

‘’By the grace of God, I’m going to collaborate with PCRC. In every forum that I have an opportunity to address, I always tell them that the duty of fighting crime is not that of the police alone it is the business of everyone. It is a business of all and sundry. I want to thank you. With your support, the division is having a new look, a glamorous look and I am particularly very happy. I have barely spent a month here and this good thing is happening. I know that better things are coming. I want to sincerely thank you for these efforts. It is a good thing and I applaud you.”

Like Oliver Twist, he asked for more support: “We need your support. If you look at our community, not everybody likes and or supporta the police and the reason is very simple. Anybody that does not support the policeman if you study the person very well that person must be criminally-minded. The fight to keep the community peaceful, the fight to ward away criminality is a joint effort. So, I want to appeal to you for your partnership and I know that you are ready to support me to succeed. I’m one of the youngest police officers to be a DPO and I thank God for that. I have the vigour, I have the strength and I’m ready to fight crimes. I’m ready to keep and maintain the peaceful atmosphere of this community. I want to solicit your support.”

The PCRC Chairman, Hon. Adeleke Adegboyega, assured that the committee will work hand-in-hand with the new DPO just as it did with his predecessors especially the immediate past DPO,

Noting that the recent development in the station  is a way of welcoming and encouraging him, he said the DPO should  count on the forum for all kinds of support.

Adeleke noted that the committee has, so far, spent N292,500 on the development project as he hinted that the Commissioner of Police and Area Commander will come for the commissioning soon.
