Fresh from his election as the organising secretary of the vice-chairmen of the local government councils in Lagos State, Vice-chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Shaqr Adeola has told ECHONEWS how his nomination and election caught him by surprise.

He believes his record of public service and experience in politics must have won him the position as the only one of the few first-term members to occupy a position of leadership among the 57-member association.

Adeola had emerged as the Organising Secretary of the association during the inaugural meeting held recently at Bariga LCDA alongside 14 other executive members to lead the association for the next four years.

Being one of the lucky few, Adeola promised to sustain the respect his local council has earned by putting up a better performance.

He noted that his council chairman, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju, who is the immediate past vice-chairman of the council, also held a position in the association as the secretary between 2017 and July 2021.

He said Olasoju’s performance in the association deserved emulation.

He promised to replicate Olasoju’s outstanding performance in his capacity with an assurance that his role in LASACVIC will not affect his obligations as the council’s vice-chairman.

“My chairman had just left the association and he served the association wonderfully well. I will only continue from where he stopped and make Isolo proud. The position came as a big surprise to me because I didn’t know about it until during the inaugural meeting. I think my political success earned me the position and I promise to make Isolo proud with my performance in LASACVIC.

“I’m already performing in my capacity because we have an outing in Oshodi LGA, the vice-chairman invited us to a function later in the month, I’m already doing what’s expected of me.”
