Man Remanded For Rape, Defilement Of 16 Year Old Girl

The Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has remanded one Emeka Agugwo for having a forceful sexual encounter with a 16 year-old girl, causing her defilement in Ikotun, Lagos.

34-year-old Agugwo, a resident at Agodo in Ikotun, Lagos, is facing prosecution on charge of defilement, as submitted by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem.

Iberedem told the court that the suspect committed the offence at about 7:30pm on April 4, 2024,  at Okesanya Street, Papa-Ajao, Barcha, Lagos.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded in a correctional centre.

She adjourned the matter until June 26 for advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
