Man Bags 1yr Prison Sentence For Assaulting LAGESC Officers

A resident in Lagos, Ogundare Oluwatobi, has been given a one-year prison confinement over offences of perpetrating assault on officers of the state’s environmental sanitation corps, LAGESC.

Ogundare was found guilty of the act during a trial at the Bolade Magistrates’ Court in Oshodi w,here he was said to have attacked the officers while they were on duty, enforcing clean-up exercise at Ipodo area of Ikeja, thus, contravening the enshrined laws of the state.

The convict as well as others who indulged in the act, Farouk Olori and Taorid Alimi, both who were slammed a one-week imprisonment were all put on trial yesterday after which they pleaded guilty to the offence and were sentenced accordingly.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said, “Three defendants who attacked KAI officers at Ipodo, Ikeja today 21st April, 2026 were arraigned before the magistrate court sitting at Bolade for assault.

“They all pleaded guilty and were convicted and sentenced. The 1st and 3rd defendant, Farouk Olori and Taoreed Alimi were sentenced to 1 week in prison while the 2nd Defendant, Ogundare Oluwatobiloba, who was identified by the court based on available evidence was sentenced to 1 year in prison.”

The state government reiterated its stance against attacks on enforcement officers and warned that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
