A 25-year old man, Bernard Ogbongha has been apprehended by security agencies for indulging himself in stealing the sum of N1.4 million which he planned to use to palpate his fellow cult gang in order to gain freedom from the group.
Ogbongha was said to have liaised with his fellow cult gang for a number of years and recently attempted quiting the group, a proposed act which his counterparts found unacceptable, issuing death threats on his life.
Echonews gathered that Ogbongha insisted on going on with his wish and lobbied the group with the sum of N1.4 million which the cult group initially accepted.
The suspect, a Senior Manager at Five OOS Limited, Jakande Estate Ejigbo specialized in the sale of Huggies and Diapers, selling goods belonging to the company, realised the sum and took it to his cult gang without the consent of his boss, Mrs Enigbokha Felicia.
His ordeal took a worse twist as the company conducted the sales audit and discovered that the account was not balanced owing to the amount Ogbongha took to the cult gang, and with no cogent answers to the questions about the account of the theft act, he was nabbed and handed over to the police at Ejigbo Division where he was prosecuted and arraigned before the Magistrates Court in Ejigbo.
During the proceedings at the court yesterday, the Police prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, did not oppose his being granted bail but asked the court for a date for the trial.
The Presiding Magistrate, Teslimi Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N1.3 million with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he would be able to perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 13th August, 2018.
