The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), through its Project WISE initiative, last week carried out a coordinated joint enforcement operation along the Ketu and Mile 12 corridor. The exercise was conducted in collaboration with the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Brigade, the Nigeria Police Force and military personnel.

The operation focused primarily on the removal of illegal traders who had occupied pedestrian walkways and other unauthorised spaces. Culprits were systematically dislodged to restore unrestricted access for pedestrians and road users, while measures were put in place to prevent the immediate reoccupation of the cleared areas.

This intervention forms an integral part of the Lagos State Government’s sustained efforts to uphold urban order, public safety and environmental sanitation. By reclaiming public spaces from illegal encroachment, the exercise supports broader goals of improved mobility, reduced traffic congestion and the maintenance of a clean, functional urban environment.

LAWMA reaffirms its unwavering support for the Lagos State Government’s vision of a well-organised, safe and conducive city. The agency remains committed to continuous collaboration with relevant stakeholders to uphold standards of urban discipline and effective environmental management.
