The Lagos State Safety Commission and Welbeck Electricity Limited have renewed their partnership in a move aimed at strengthening workplace safety standards across Lagos.

The collaboration came into focus during a strategic visit by Welbeck Electricity to the Commission, part of activities surrounding the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Both parties used the opportunity to reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering safer work environments through sustained public-private cooperation.

Welbeck Electricity emphasised the importance of aligning with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and reduce workplace hazards, particularly in high-risk sectors such as power and infrastructure. The company also highlighted the growing need to address not just physical safety, but mental health and overall employee wellbeing—an area gaining increased attention globally.

On its part, the Safety Commission reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to evolving its occupational safety framework to reflect modern realities. This includes integrating psychosocial health considerations into safety policies, alongside traditional measures aimed at preventing accidents and injuries.

Officials commended Welbeck Electricity for its proactive stance, noting that partnerships with responsible corporate organisations play a critical role in driving awareness, improving adherence to safety regulations, and minimising workplace incidents.

Both organisations signalled plans to deepen engagement through training programmes, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder collaboration, as part of a broader effort to entrench a safety-first culture and boost productivity across Nigeria’s commercial capital.
