Lagos Rolls Out 2026 Micro Enterprise Support Programme
The Lagos State Government has launched the first phase of its 2026 Micro Enterprise Support Programme, reaffirming its commitment to helping residents turn small businesses and vocational skills into sustainable sources of income.
The initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), is targeted at micro-entrepreneurs, particularly women, youths, artisans and graduates of government skills acquisition centres.
Beneficiaries are expected to receive a combination of business support, including start-up capital, equipment and entrepreneurial assistance, to enable them to establish new ventures or expand existing businesses.
The programme is part of the state government’s broader poverty-reduction and economic empowerment strategy, with a focus on strengthening grassroots businesses and creating opportunities for self-reliance.
The administration said the intervention would help beneficiaries overcome some of the financial and operational barriers limiting the growth of their businesses while improving household incomes.
Through the latest rollout, Lagos is seeking to deepen support for its micro-enterprise sector, which plays a major role in employment creation and economic activity across communities.
The government also urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the assistance and build businesses capable of generating employment and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
