Lagos Police Deputy Commissioner Khan Salihu Passes Away

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of its Deputy Commissioner of Police, Khan Salihu, who passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026.

 

Although the exact cause of his death has not been officially disclosed, sources at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters said the senior officer reportedly complained of fatigue after returning from the mosque on Sunday.

 

According to the sources, Salihu requested permission to take some time off to rest at home. However, shortly after arriving home, his condition reportedly worsened and he was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

 

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, described the late officer as a dedicated and highly respected member of the Nigeria Police Force whose career was marked by professionalism, integrity and unwavering commitment to duty.

 

The command said Salihu distinguished himself throughout his years of service through exemplary leadership, diligence and outstanding administrative skills that contributed significantly to the operational effectiveness of the Lagos State Police Command.

 

According to the statement, news of his passing came as a shock to officers and personnel of the command, many of whom had worked closely with him over the years.

 

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on behalf of officers and men of the command, extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.

 

He prayed for God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss and for the soul of the late officer to rest in peace.

 

The command noted that DCP Salihu would be remembered for his humility, professionalism, dedication to service and selfless commitment to the nation.

 

His legacy, the statement added, will continue to inspire officers and personnel of the Lagos State Police Command.
