Lagos Partners With OTL Downstream To Promote Tourism Assets At Landmark Anniversary Event

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has deepened its partnership with OTL Downstream Development in Africa ahead of the organisation’s 20th anniversary edition, with plans to highlight the state’s tourism offerings to delegates.
The collaboration was advanced during a courtesy visit by the management of OTL Downstream, led by Chief Executive Officer Mrs Joyce Alabogu, to the Ministry’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday, 6 August 2026. Talks focused on preparations for the anniversary event, scheduled for 25 to 30 October 2026 in Lagos.
Organisers said the programme will extend beyond discussions on the downstream energy sector. Delegates from across Africa and beyond will be offered curated tours of Lagos’ cultural and leisure attractions, giving them a direct experience of the city’s tourism potential.
Mrs Alabogu thanked the Ministry for its receptiveness and noted that the anniversary edition aims to provide participants with an authentic sense of Lagos. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to positioning tourism as a driver of economic growth and to strengthening Lagos’ standing as a leading African destination for business, culture and leisure.
OTL Downstream Development in Africa serves as a key Pan-African platform for advancing the continent’s downstream energy sector through research, advocacy, policy dialogue and stakeholder engagement. Linking the energy gathering with tourism experiences is expected to create additional value for both attendees and the host city.
The partnership reflects Lagos State’s strategy of using major international events to showcase its tourism assets and generate wider economic benefits for the sector.
