Lagos First Lady advocates Affordable, Quality Healthcare Service

Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has advocated for a reform in the health sector to enable affordable and quality healthcare service to the residents.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that citizens in the state, particularly the vulnerable, are in need of support for adequate health conditions as well as enabling health equity among inhabitants of the area.
The First Lady gave the recommendation during the 2025 Ilera Eko Day held at the Lagos Television Blue Roof in Agindingbi, Ikeja, on Thursday, mentioning that the stakeholders should ensure that no one is left behind from becoming a beneficiary in the initiatives provided by the state government.
She stated that the Ilera Eko programme, tagged “Health Coverage for All” has provided health benefits for more than one million residents.
“The Ilera Eko program captures the vision of a truly inclusive health system,” said the First Lady.
“From digital innovations to tailor-made plans, the Lagos State Government is working to ensure that access to quality healthcare becomes a reality.
“The Lagos State Health Management Agency, LASHMA, has pioneered innovations such as the Virtual Booths, ILERA EKO App, and telemedicine platforms that have enhanced access to care.
“The Equity Fund under EKOSHA, through which orphans, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities have been enrolled at no cost”.
Sanwo-Olu added that health insurance is a right, not a privilege. She further said: “The Equity Fund under EKOSHA has orphans, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities been enrolled at no cost.
“As a mother and medical doctor, I understand the relief that comes from knowing your family is covered, so encourage all Lagos residents to enrol and urge philanthropists, market leaders, and corporate organizations to support the initiative so more people can benefit.
“Despite all these, we will no not leave any stone unturned. We will continue to make these initiatives available for our people and also make sure our reforms reach the nooks and crannies of the state.
“Our people must be healthy and strong in other to enjoy the dividends of democracy for further developments in our state “
