JUST IN: I’m still LAHA Speaker, Obasa Breaks Silence

Embattled Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has rejected his recent impeachment, maintaining that he remains in his position until the “right thing is done.”
Obasa’s assertion follows his removal from office on January 13 by Assembly members, who cited allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
In the wake of his impeachment, Obasa has faced additional scrutiny over accusations that he spent N17 billion on a gate for the assembly complex.
Despite these controversies, Obasa has received support from loyalists, who welcomed him back to his Ikeja residence on Saturday.
Addressing the media and his supporters, Obasa asserted his belief that he is still the Speaker and questioned the legitimacy of his removal.
“My status in the house? I believe strongly I am still the speaker until the right thing has been done. If you want to remove me, remove me the proper way and I will not contest it.
“I’m a Muslim and I believe in fate. But let’s do it the way it should be done.”
When asked if a legal battle is in the offing, Obasa responded “You will know . It’s a matter of time. Thank you and God bless you.”
