ISOLO LCDA EMPOWERS YOUTHS AND AGROPRENUERS

Prospective youths and Agro-Preneurs were potentially empowered, at a 2-days empowerment seminar organized by the Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in partnership with the National Image, under the emblem of Lagos State Ministry of Local and Community Affairs.
The program, themed “Agricultural Empowerment Training Scheme for Youths and Agro-preneurs” was aimed at enlightening and educating interested youths on the best management practices and approach, in agriculture especially in Cat Fish Farming in Nigeria.
The guest speaker, Mr. Osho Gbolahan, a Fishery Expert in the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, explained the basics of the approach and sternly urged attendees to adopt the practices, if they want to become successful Fish Farmers.
Furthermore, he said, adoption the taught approach, will minimize capital expenses to the lowest possible point and at the same time maximize profits in fish farming; especially in Cat Fish Commercialization. “The purpose of this approach is to help in minimizing capital expenses and maximize profit in the process”, he affirmed.
Citing the need to improve the marketability of the products as one of the advantages of the approach, Gbolahan said some of the benefits of approach when sternly adhered to, decreases cost, improves the growth rate of the fish, facilitates sustainability and reduces the rate of disease.
Highlighting several health precautions, he advised the use of local medications on fish as it has proved to be very effective and reliable.
Encouragingly, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade, the Co-ordinator of the National Image, promised attendees, issuance of certificate of participation and assures them, that more of such training will follow soon, to help them attain excellence and success. Adding that the primary aims of the non-governmental organization is to promote self-reliance among youths and agro-preneurs.
Speaking on behalf of the attendees, Mr. Bright expressed their gratitude to the organizers and emphasis the need for such program, as a ‘Think Tank’ for the youths. Saying that such enlightenment, is a motivation for the youths to become farmers.
