Following the statement by the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, that every APC Governor would face Direct Primary, submitting that the era of blackmail and manipulation is over, the Chairman, Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye has emphasized on the need for every aspirants to involve in direct primary election, facing the party members who would elect their favourite leaders.
Oshiomole had said, “Any APC State with APC Governor will face Direct Primary, APC State without APC Governor will face Delegate Primary. I won’t support manipulation by sitting Governors.
“The time for blackmail and manipulation is now completely over. The Party is supreme and superior to anyone from the President to the Councilor.”
Corroborating Oshiomhole’s submiossion, Olaleye said, “APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole cannot be wrong at these trying times facing our party. To maintain unity, party cohesion, equity, fairness and justice, there must be direct primaries to elect candidates for all elective positions in APC.
“What this translates to is that every card carrying member of our party would henceforth vote for aspirants of their choice in all party primaries. This was what came into effect in the recent Osun state gubernatorial primaries won by Aregbesola’s Chief of Staff, Isiaka Oyetola.
“Aside the transparency of the exercise, it cleared all doubts as to who is popular and most acceptable to the majority of party faithful and stakeholders.
“Here in Isolo, it is cheering news for members of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Foundation who have stoutly rejected the imposition of usurpers as party executives at both ward and local government levels of the party.
“We warmly welcome this development and hope every true democrat would do same as a way of solving the political logjam bedeviling our political space.
“Let every aspirant face card-carrying members of our party in direct primaries devoid of rancour, violence and brigandage that characterized the recently aborted ward/LGA delegate congress.
“For all intent and purpose, the life of every party member should not be lost on the altar of political ego. This has always been our position.”
