The Council Chairman, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju and Agbabiaka with the school bus

The Councillor representing Apena Ward, Isolo LCDA, Hon. Yusuf Agbabiaka has explained that he will provide an additional bus for public pupils students in his ward soon and launch his ‘Food for all’ program for indigent residents soon.

The councillor disclosed this in an exclusive interview with ECHONEWS, yesterday, after showcasing a newly acquired school bus he purchased for pupils of public schools in his ward to the council boss, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju.

Agbabiaka explained that the school bus is in line with his ‘Everyone Matters in Apena’ agenda and he’s leaving no stone unturned to complement the efforts of the council chairman in his ward.

He explained that the fact that pupils from his walk trek a long distance to Isolo and Ilasamaja where their schools are domiciled has made the provision of a school bus incumbent on him.

He revealed that he had coughed almost 1.5million for the bus with the driver placed on monthly salary.

He noted that before the next six months, he would have provided another one to ensure that more pupils enjoy the free ride as one will be designated to Ilasamaja and the other Isolo.

He also revealed that very soon, he will launch his ‘Food for all project’ whereby at least 30 residents from each of the seven zones in his Apena Ward will be given free food every month.

His words: “I’m here to serve my people and this (the school bus) is one of my numerous projects. Many are still coming. Talking about what made this project a necessity, we all know that we don’t have a public primary school in Okota and the pupils trek long-distance to the schools in Isolo and Ilasamaja, I thought it wise to provide this as a temporary solution pending the time the council will be able to provide a school in our area.

“As a councillor, beyond lawmaking, one of my responsibilities is the make life easier for my constituents and facilitation of infrastructure. This is my own intervention project to the problem I’ve identified. In the next six months, I want the bus to be two so that one will convey them to their school in Isolo and the other Ilasamaja. I have a driver that will drive them and maintain the vehicle. Aside from the fact that the vehicle will be fitted with Air Conditioner it has windows openable for ventilation. It will have television for the students to learn educative visuals.”

Speaking about other projects he has for his constituents, he continued saying: “Beyond this, there’s food for all project that will be coming up every month for each of the seven zones in Apena Ward. I’ve had these plans in me before now. You know that this is the fifth time of contesting, there are plans already, what you’ll be seeing is execution. The residents can remain assured. I have the belief that corporate organizations will be willing to support the government with what we’ve been doing.”
