Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has shared her views on the role of financial stability in relationships and marriage, stressing that love alone may not be enough to sustain a fulfilling family life.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast, the actress said she does not subscribe to the notion that marrying a financially struggling partner guarantees a happy and comfortable life.

According to Isime, economic challenges can place significant pressure on couples, making it difficult to enjoy the full benefits of marriage and family life.

“Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme, but I don’t believe marrying a poor man can make you happy,” she said.

She explained that issues such as unpaid rent, inability to meet children’s educational expenses and lack of food at home can strain relationships and diminish the quality of family life.

While acknowledging that genuine affection can exist regardless of financial status, the actress maintained that being in love is different from enjoying a comfortable and rewarding lifestyle.

“I am not saying there is no love without money. But love and a fantastic life are not the same,” she added.

Isime further advised intending couples to attain a reasonable level of financial stability before getting married and starting a family, noting that adequate preparation can help reduce avoidable pressures associated with raising a home.
