Davido Never Paid for My Flight, Hotel or NGO – VeryDarkMan

Nigerian social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has denied claims that singer Davido financially supported him or contributed to his non-governmental organisation.

The activist made the clarification while addressing long-standing public perceptions about his relationship with the Afrobeats star following their recent fallout.

VeryDarkMan and Davido became close in October 2023 after the singer invited him to Lagos. At the time, the influencer shared a video showing his hotel room and praised Davido for the reception he received.

However, speaking nearly three years later, VeryDarkMan said the narrative that Davido paid for his trip and accommodation was allowed to circulate for entertainment purposes.

According to him, he personally paid for his flight to Lagos and his hotel accommodation, contrary to widespread claims.

He also dismissed reports that Davido donated to his NGO, insisting that he never received any financial support from the singer.

Speaking in Pidgin English, VeryDarkMan said, “Any time I talk something around Davido, people go say, ‘After all what Davido has done for you. Davido flew you to Lagos, Davido has contributed to your NGO.’

“Today, make I address una. That time I went to Lagos to meet Davido, na me pay for my flight ticket and na me pay for the hotel wey I lodge. We just leave am like that for entertainment purposes.

“They said Davido contributed to your NGO. That’s not true. I never asked him to make any contribution. He was the one who said he would do something, but I never asked him. Ask Davido if I have ever collected N1,000 from him since he has known me.”

His remarks come amid growing public interest in the relationship between the two, following reports of a fallout.
