Company HR On Trial Over N83 Salary Fraud

A company Human Resources Manager, Kate Badmus, has been arraigned in court over allegations of N83.2 million salary fraud in Lagos.
Badmus, who allegely commited the offence while being an employee in an hospital in Ikeja, was said have fraudulently aided salaries for non-workers in the company’s payroll and disbursed them salaries to the tune of the amount.
The 40-year-old suspect, while on trial at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on charges of fraud and stealing, was said to have commited the offence between 2023 and February 9, 2026, as relayed by the prosecution, although she pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
The offences were said to contravene Sections 287 and 314 of the Lagos State Criminal Law.
The court granted her bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties while the matter was adjourned till April 29.
